Her 30 years of experience includes business management and financial accounting, tax accounting, financial control and operational experience in family business and personal services, financial services and real estate operations, business plan development, acquisitions/divestitures, public and private placements of debt and equity securities, establishing financial controls in turn-around situation, financing, due diligence and insurance negotiations. Joan serves on family foundations, family advisory and other boards.
Accomplishments
Joan was Chief Financial Officer and served on the boards of directors of the William E. Simon financial institution management and holding companies. Prior to that, she served as Financial Controller and Finance Director of Acquisitions for Citibank FSB, and was a Senior Manager in the audit department at Ernst & Young, including three years at the national office in charge of thrift publications and liaison to offices serving the thrift industry. Previously, Joan was an accounting instructor at University of Illinois.

She graduated from Illinois State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Computer Science and earned a Master's in Accountancy from University of Illinois. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the California Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Illinois Society of Certified Public Accountants.
